The Bilderberg Hotel is located in the museum district of Amsterdam .It is an easy walk to the Rijksmuseum. The decor is modern in the furnishings and bathroom. The shower lacked a grab-bar. There was a full bar and restaurant off the lobby. the bar also served food. It is in a very quiet location.

A 3 but fair

I will start by saying. Not a 5 star as advertised by TUI. We arrived having booked a long bank holiday weekend. Our booking was for a standard double but we arrived to a room with 2 singles. This was swiftly adjusted and we were then moved to another room with a double. The room itself was nice and included a safe, TV, iron and ironing board. There is a coffee maker and bits too which was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and the shower/ toilet was clean. There was a fridge in the room too. The hotel doesn't provide bottled water in the room which I found odd for a hotel rated as high as it is. Instead water can be purchased in the main reception area at a premium. I would advise walking over to the supermarket (10 minutes away) and getting some litre bottles for a fraction of the price. The lift stopped working on the evening of our first night but was repaired and operational again within 24 hours. The first morning came around and we had opted for bed and breakfast. The drink selection was OK but the apple juice had definitely been watered down. I was told off by a member of the restaurant staff for not correctly holding the glass under the orange juice dispenser which I found a little odd. The hotel location was really good. It was far enough away from central Amsterdam without being too isolated. There was a 10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop and another 10 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop which takes you to and from Schiphol airport. Vondel park is no more than 15 minutes walk from the hotel and is a stunning location. The hotel will organise breakfast and taxis when requested which was convenient however, we had requested breakfast for our departure. Only one bag had been made up originally however the concierge at the time managed to get the kitchen staff to make another before we had left. In previous experiences with higher rated TUI retreats I have found that the hotels have made some kind of effort for special occasions however following my communication that this retreat was for our wedding anniversary, it didn't feel that this particular hotel caters for these types of requests as no effort was made to prepare the room or provide any small token of acknowledgement. I feel rude for making this point as I was always told not to expect things such as this but I feel it is important that people researching for their stay may find this information valuable in the event that they too may be planning a surprise get away for a loved one. Overall the stay was pleasant but not enough to convince me to stay again. I would probably be inclined to look at other hotels before considering this one again. This is not to discredit the hotel or its staff by any means. I just don't feel that our personal experience was special enough to leave a lasting impression.

The hotel was very good for what we needed - The tram station is a nice 10 minute walk away and although the hotel is slightly out of the centre (20 min tram ride to central station and 5 minute tram to museum district) it is located in a fashionable neighbourhood with some nice boutiques, restaurants and eateries nearby. The staff were very pleasant and the whole experience was very good. The rooms was good - bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels and the shower was hot !! The bedroom was generally quite dark as there was a dark walls and carpet so even in daytime you needed lighting on which isn't very eco friendly. perhaps they should paint the walls a lighter shade. Our room had a balcony with a nice furniture so we could sit outside when the weather was nice. overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay there again

UNACCEPTABLY RUDE STAFF

1/5

Halyna S on Mar 29, 2024

The worst experience I have ever had during the trip. The survive was incredible bad, the rudest receptionist I have ever seen in my life- Zwat Piet. When you are paying for a 5* hotel you are paying for the service. Ms Zwat provided a service of a cheap outskirt hostel but certainly not a hotel. Dear management, please take into consideration the staff you are employing since it gives a feeling and impression to your impression of motel. The situation was awkward: we arrived by a car, having a Blue Badge parking permission, asking a member of your staff about parking, she offered us a place next to hotel, saying nothing about extra cost and highlighting that everything has been paid upon check in. By the way, I am legally allowed to park right next to the hotel, in a blue badge holder parking space. Today during check your reception member of staff has said that we need to pay €45 for the parking, however NO ONE! Has ever instructed us about additional cost. Then Ms Zwat Pier was called by anther receptionist and instead of explaining the situation started talking in a rude and disrespectful way. I was fine with a payment, but the way I was talk to that is UNACCEPTABLE! I am a customer that paid for a 5* hotel, while the service and attitude that was provided was for a €50 outskirt motel.

Lovely little hotel , beautifully made out rooms , The beds are huge !! Hairdryer in bathroom , tv in room the staff were very friendly We didn’t spend much time at the hotel This isn’t close to the centre square so bare that in mind . We found the tram system confusing to start ( and we’re both clued up on these ) didn’t help that every street and building looked the same but once we knew what number tram we needed and we’re to get on and off it was ok and then Just a short walk from last stop to hotel approx 10 minuet walk One problem we did come across was that our entire one side of the room electrics did not work but the hotel were very quick to change our room You will also receive a tax charge to pay when you enter the hotel this was approx £60 and we stayed for 3 nights Would stay here again
